Can you Face Paint for free for charity?

The expenses involved in professional face painting might surprise you. The products, insurance, travel, training courses, practice costs and cleaning costs are substantial. For that reason, we are not able to paint for free at any event. However, we would be delighted to discuss how we can help raise money for your charity or fundraising events. Visit our large events & fundraisers page for more information.

What age is suitable for Face Painting?

Face paints are completely safe for children, however, it is not recommended to paint children under 3 years old.

Some young children can be nervous about having their faces touched (especially around the eye area), or sometimes can be too wriggly to sit through a painting. However, we can offer them an arm or hand painting. Many younger kids prefer this, as they can see their design afterwards.

Are Face Paints suitable for sensitive skin?

Our Face paint is safe for children’s skin as it is specifically designed for use on the face and labeled as non-toxic and hypoallergenic.

We only use good quality professional products which are specially formulated to be friendly to the most delicate skin, they are non-toxic and fragrance-free.

All our face paints are EU approved and include antibacterial properties.

The glitters we use are specifically for cosmetic use.

However, If a child has sensitive skin or any skin conditions that may be aggravated by cosmetics we do not recommend they be painted. If you have any concerns we can try a small test area on the inside of the arm.

Although it is extremely rare, we cannot be held responsible for any allergic reaction if the parent/guardian has given their permission.

If you are unsure, ask us to test a small patch of skin before applying it more widely to ensure there are no adverse reactions.

You can view the list of face paints we regularly use and their ingredients on our Face Paint Ingredients page

How many faces can you paint?

Each Face Painter can paint an average of 10 -15  faces per hour depending upon the complexity of the designs chosen.

10-12 full-face designs per hour
or up to 15 half-faces (eye designs) per hour.

example :
05 – 08 guests – 1 hour – full faces or 1 hour – half faces plus glitter tattoos
10 – 12 guests – 1 hour – full faces optional second hour of glitter tattoos.
12 – 15 guests – 1 hour – half faces optional second hour of glitter tattoos
15 – 30 guests – 2 hours required for face painting. We could also offer a choice of a glitter tattoo or face paint to each child, but not both.
35 – 50 guests – 2 artists for 2 hours to comfortably fit all the children in.

How do I remove face paint?

We recommend face paints be removed after 2 – 3 hours, ideally in a bath or shower with a facecloth and soap or baby shampoo (no more tears). Using lotions or baby wipes may react with some ingredients in the paints and make them harder to remove or may cause discomfort. There is no set time limit for wearing face paint but we don’t recommend children wear any face paint to bed. It can get messy!

  1. Start with warm water and a gentle soap. Baby wash/shampoo is ideal.
  2. Wet a face cloth, add some gentle soap, and wash the face. Take care around the eyes.
  3. If there’s any residue, apply a little oil. Baby oil or coconut oil are great… but olive oil does the trick just as well.
  4. Rub oil over the stubborn areas and the stains come right off!

If you do get face paint on clothing or bed sheets, please wash them as the label describes.

We do try to test all of our paints for easy removal and avoid using any brands that stain. We don’t want our clothes stained either!

How clean is the face painting equipment?

Brushes are washed using specially formulated brush soap and sponges are washed in a washing machine at 40 degrees using non-bio washing powder. This is done following the end of each painting session. All equipment is dried thoroughly stored safely and replaced regularly.

Covid-19

Additional cleaning and sanitation procedures are in place between painting children to protect and prevent the spread of COVID-19. If you have any concerns or would like to know more please read our Covid-19 information page or please get in touch with us

When is the best time to book?

You can book up to a year in advance. We are sometimes booked quite far in advance, especially for seasonal holidays, bank holiday weekends and larger organised events. But we find it’s normally about a month or two before, for private birthday parties.

Our busiest times are weekends between 12pm and 4pm. These times book up first. However morning times 10 am – 12pm and later afternoon 4pm – 6pm are more likely to be available if it’s a particularly busy weekend or if your event date is only a few weeks away.

If you do have to cancel, for any reason, please inform us as soon as possible by calling 07590 567 899 as there may be delays using email/Facebook correspondence. It also allows us to offer that time slot to another enquiry.

Please keep us informed of any changes and if you have changed your mind, that’s ok too.

If you have paid a booking fee or balance, a full refund will be issued.

Please read our cancelation policy in our Booking Terms & Conditions here
